About Us

Kenmore Plaza Optometry was set up in 1996 and has been supporting the local community in many ways since then.  The principal optometrist, Kylie Zahner started working in the Western Suburbs in 2001, joined the Kenmore Plaza team in 2006 and fulfilled a dream by becoming the owner/managing director in 2015.  In the past 23 years Kylie has raised a family locally and been a proud, active member of many local schools, sports clubs and music groups. She has remained very committed to the community whether it be in the form of school vision screenings, nursing home visits, Rotary and Lyons trips to visit the needy in remote areas, catching a boat to work in the floods to help those in need and staying open during covid as an essential part of the local medical team.  

Our Optometry team has grown to a team of three as Justine Chuang and Kate Blackett, with all their experience, have joined Kylie to help with the growing need for personal eyecare and eyewear solutions in our community.  We are all passionate about providing a genuinely high standard of care using advanced optical technology for the entire family – from newborns to those who’ve had a lot more birthdays. We believe that really listening to your needs and helping you see your best through customised eye care and easy to understand explanations of what’s going on, will make your most memorable moments clearer!

We do all the frame buying in house and our knowledgeable team will help you find the look you’re after at the price that suits you.  Our optical dispensing team all live by the same principles and love seeing happy patients and our beautiful frames go to a good, caring home.  

We take a holistic approach to eye health that includes nutrition advice and we are all members of many professional organisations.  We meet weekly to discuss cases and learn from each other – three heads are better than one and this ensures the best growth in us as practitioners, to then better help you.  

Kylie has worked hard over the past two decades to build close relationships with local GP’s, Ophthalmologists, Occupational therapists and nutritionists and this means a higher level of care for you.  As an integral part of your supportive medical community, by creating open lines of communication all aspects of your health care are considered.
